Growth Mindset lifts the ceiling of potential and removes all perceived barriers within the learning process
Test scores and measures of achievement tell you where a student is, but they don’t tell you where a student could end up.

In 2009 I read a book by Carol Dweck titled Mindsets. After reading it twice, and using it as a book study with my staff at Birmingham Covington School, I realized that developing a Growth Mindset (vs a Fixed Mindset), and helping others understand the power of mindset, must be one of my top priorities as an educational leader. Since 2009, I have incorporated Growth Mindset in everything I do as a learner, a mentor, and an educational leader.
As Superintendent, fostering a growth mindset in all areas of the school experience will be a priority and will help us live out our mission, realize our vision, and accomplish anything we strive to achieve. Academics, character education, athletics, budgeting, and hiring practices must be led with a growth mindset. |
